Cooking Classes

Due to COVID-19​ all classes have been postponed, they will be re-scheduled as soon as it is safe to do so. Until then, happy cooking!
Classes take place in the beautiful Island Life cafe and studio and are led by our chef. Each class promises great people, tasty food and interesting information. Join us for the fun while learning new cooking skills!
Classes are held on Saturdays starting at 2 pm. 

Upcoming Classes: 
  • Sides as Stars – Make Your Veggies Standout!
    Don’t let your main dish get all the attention, in this class we’ll explore how to take the humble vegetable side to the next level! We’ve all had our share of frozen peas and steamed broccoli as the necessary healthy accompaniment to our burgers and steaks, but what if we could transform those boring old veggies into something really spectacular? What if we toss that broccoli in olive oil and garlic, throw it on the grill and finish it off with lemon and parmesan? What if those peas become a salad with couscous, feta, sliced almonds and a light vinaigrette? With a few simple additions the dreaded veggie side can become the showcase of the meal!
     
    -Participants will enjoy Garlicky Grilled Broccoli, Spring Pea & Couscous Salad, Orange Glazed Carrots, and Balsamic Herb Mushrooms and receive recipes for everything prepared. Bring an apron if you’d like.

  • Meal Prep for Moms
    Looking for a thoughtful gift for a mom in your life, are you an expectant mother or know one and need a great gift, maybe you’re a busy mom (or dad) who just wants an easy weeknight solution? This class is for you! We’ll discuss the basics of meal prep, including planning for meal prep, ingredients that and freezing meals for later, then we’ll assemble meals that can be frozen or eaten now. Freezer meals make great gifts or are great back up for a future busy night.
     
    Participants will assemble four recipes and receive instructions for making six more easy-to-prepare, freezer-ready meals.
     
    We will provide all ingredients and containers, bring your own apron, if you like, and bag for carrying home meals.

  • Simple Sauces for Spicing Things Up
    This is the time for breaking out the grill, cooling things off in the kitchen and keeping meals simple and fresh. Having a few staple sauces at the ready to add punch to your meals can elevate dinner from standard to stand out! Our chef will talk through and demonstrate simple oil infusions that can be used for cooking, adding flare to a finished dish or for dipping bread; yogurt-based sauces that go great over grilled meat or as a dip for a tray of crudités; and herb-forward sauces that will add beauty and pop to any meal.
     
    Participants will sample garlic, herb and chili-infused oils, tzatziki dip and chimichurri sauce and receive recipes for everything prepared.
