The term yoga can be a little intimidating and confusing, and we totally understand that. Sometimes class selection and level can feel vague. One of our major goals here at Island Life is to demystify a yoga practice to help make it more accessible to everyone. Our goal is to bring joy and inspiration to healthy eating and fitness. Therefore we offer a variety of different class options and lengths to help yoga fit into everyone’s lifestyle.
So now… which class is right for you?
- Our early morning Rise & Shine classes are 30 minutes long to allow people to practice before work in the morning. These classes will be a 30 minute rise and shine flow to energize your body and mind before a hectic day begins. These will focus on full body movements, sun salutations, core work and some balance poses. Our goal with these is to allow our clients to start their day in a centered, more flexible, and happier way, and we realize that mornings are often rushed, hence the 30 minute classes.
- Our 10:30 Rise and Shine classes are 45 minutes long, and will include all the normal poses we practice in the early class, but will also include some relaxing and calming poses at the end.
- Evening classes are also 45 minutes long, and will include a warm-up for all your muscles(including your mind!) sun salutations, core work, and some balance poses, and end with some relaxing and restorative poses.
So now… which class is right for you?
- Our Hatha classes are all beginner level classes. If you haven’t had a regular yoga practice or a fitness routine in the last year I recommend you start here. These classes focus on gently stretching all your muscles and will help your joints to move more efficiently after regular practice. These are gentle classes and are perfect for all ages and activity levels. A wonderful place to start your yoga journey.
- Our Vinyasa classes are intermediate and flow more quickly through movements and poses, and involve more core work and balance poses than our beginner classes. This class is great for anyone who has a current yoga practice or some type of fitness routine. I consider this a more intermediate class level, as it does require more physical exertion.
- Our Sunday Hangover Cure Restorative Class is incredibly beneficial for everyone! All levels of students will benefit from this practice, and will feel pampered, relaxed, and rejuvenated afterwards. Restorative yoga requires little to no muscular effort- it allows your muscles to passively relax through the use of yoga props. It helps create more beneficial fluid in your joints, relax your muscles, and restore your mind. It is a lovely re-set before beginning a new week.
